Unlike TAB the chord box is not upside down – but is a mirror image instead.

Pulling your fingers out


Let’s add a finger to the chord box

The Blue dot shows a finger on the ‘D’ string

This ‘Blue’ Dot as you can see in the diagram below is holding the string down on the ‘2nd’ fret.

To do this place your 1st finger on the ‘D’ string pressing down on the ‘2nd’ fret. try and use your fingertip.

As with the previous finger, place your 2nd finger on the ‘D’ string pressing down on the ‘2nd’ fret. try and use your fingertip.

Now place your 3rd finger on the ‘D’ string pressing down on the ‘2nd’ fret. Try and use your fingertip.

Below you can now see numbers on the blue dots

Your 1st finger is the one next to your thumb

Understanding chord boxes is not difficult but it can be incredibly confusing when you are also trying to get to grips with the guitar physically.
