Dropbox online free online storage and network folder sync

Dropbox free online storage

Looking for an easy online storage system that can sync files between all your computers?

Well Dropbox is in my opinion the perfect solution.

As a user for over a year now I have it installed on two pcs, my laptop, iPhone and iPad.

Primarily I use it to sync files across all my devices to save on using a USB stick.

Works flawlessly on all my devices syncing chosen folders across my network.

I use it to share and as a backup for my important files.

You can also share folders with other users of Dropbox which comes in useful for collaborations and teaching.

If you get a Dropbox account you can also get added storage by inviting people to join.

If you share files with those invitees you get more storage!

The only negative is that you can’t write protect files.

This means that if someone decides to delete a file it will delete it from Dropbox.

My advice is to share only one folder and ask that users do not delete anything.

Apparently there are lots of requests for write protected folders on the Dropbox website so fingers crossed.

You can of course pay for extra storage if needed.

Brilliant service and well worth it.

Duet – Double Tracking VST plugin

Last month my Computer Music Magazine came plopping through the door just as I was on my way off on holiday, when I finally got back I hardly read it.

But then I saw a name on the front cover that I recoginsed from previous issues.

Martin Eastwood, creator of CompressiveCM, a fantastic compression plugin exclusively offered with Computer Music Magazine.

The new plugin is called ‘Duet’  an automatic double-tracking/harmonizer effect that can be used as a VST plugin.

‘By independently pitch-shifting the left and right inputs, Duet allows audio pitch to be manipulated in real-time, while still maintaining the time duration. By also delaying the re-pitched audio and altering its pan position, Duet can accurately create the illusion of multiple voices and add a luscious texture to your music.

This allows you to enhance vocals and instruments, such as guitars, by thickening the sound and adding a rich glossy sheen to your music. Happy harmonizing’ – Martin Eastwood

Clapping Lesson 1

Clapping rhythms is a good way of learning to keep time.

A solid beat will help develope your sense of timing.

This has the knock on effect of helping develope a consistent strum and will help lead playing.

Part 1:

Learning to count:  1 2 3 4

The above picture indicates 4 beats to the bar, these beats are called ‘crotchets’.

Listen to the audio example again and try to do it yourself.

Remember to keep your clapping consistent and solid.

Try and do it more than once without stopping.
