Boss GT-8 and Fender Champion 600 review 2

Boss GT-8 and Fender Champion 600 audio recordings of some of the odd effects.

Basically mic’d up the Champion as pictured below,

Because the Boss GT-8 has a ridiculous amount of effects we decided to record just a selection of what we could.

We used no additonal effects – we’ve also tried to show what the effects can do, in some recordings we’ve gone with the stock settings. In other recordings we’ve tried to showcase what the effect can do.

Electro Harmonix Octave Multiplexer Review

Electro Harmonix – Octave Multiplexer Analog Sub-Octave Generator audio review,

Get down! Generates deep, phat bass tones one octave below the notes you play. Two separate smoothing filters enable you to tailor your sub-octave signal to the exact bass sound you desire, separating the Octave Multiplexer from other octave devices. Run your vocals through it and sound just like Ike Turner. This is a monophonic device and works only on single notes.

Test scenario:

Shure sm57 and sm58 placed in front of Fender Champion 600 amp as seen below,

Amp as usual placed on cushioned stool 9-12 inches off floor and in the centre of a large room.

Pre-Amps used are behringer 1622fx Xenyx built pre-amps.

Guitar is a Mexican Fender Telecaster fitted with Seymour Duncan bridge pickup.

Guitar leads used are Planet Waves.

To accentuate effect a Electro Harmonix double muff has been used set on Single muff and set as pictured,

Behringer VD-1 Vintage Distortion Pedal review

Below is a test of the Behringer Vintage Distortion – The VD-1.

I really like this cheapo pedal, it looks like a brick and sounds like a ton of bricks.

If you’re looking for a cool budget distortion then this in my humble opinion is it.

It’s very light when handled.

Electro Harmonix – Pulsar Audio Review

One of my all time favourite effects is the Tremelo effect, it’s very cool.

A few months I decided to dispense with my trusty Behringer guitar rack unit and get back into seperates.

The benefits are better control, less reliance on presets – hell it’s fun as well as getting some awesome sounds.

My favourite pedals have always been Electro Harmonix – they just sound so good.

Anyway this audio review is of the EHX Pulsar Variable Shape Analog Tremolo.

‘The Stereo Pulsar generates vintage tremolo and panning that will fill any venue with rhythmic stereo energy. Its Wave Form switch allows you to change the modulation from triangle to square form. The Wave Shape control allows you to control transitions from negative to positive saw tooth or adjust pulse width. This all means you can create any type of stereo tremolo from pure vintage to ones never heard before.’

Recordings have been made in the same recording scenario as previous recordings.

Fender Champion 600 Amp, Fender Telecaster fitted with Seymour Duncan bridge pickup.

Amp placed on Stool at a height of between 9 and 12 inches from the floor – stool is in the middle of the room and the room is open plan.

Mic’s are Shure sm57 and sm58.

We’ve recorded a selection of settings to give an idea of how the pedal soounds.

To boost the signal a little we used it with the double muff pedal on single muff setting.

Boss GT-8 and Fender Champion 600 review 1

Boss GT-8 and Fender Champion 600 audio recordings of Distortions and Overdrives.

Basically mic’d up the Champion as pictured below,

Because the Boss GT-8 has a ridiculous amount of effects we decided to record just a selection of what we could without messing with the settings.

We used no reverb, compression or delay just Distortion or Overdrive.

The playing got a little bit silly please have a sense of humour when listening and bear in mind that I am promarily a punk and country style guitarist.
