Fromage: Free Filter/Distortion/Crunch VST Plugin
Fromage: Free Filter/Distortion/Crunch VST Plugin
Hats off to this mad little bugger.
Does a lot.
Freature include:
- Highly resonant low-pass filter
- Cutoff frequency unit selection : Hz or musical note
- Up to 15 additional bands, harmonically distributed
- Delay on each band for unique phaser effects
- Distortion stage, with two routing schemes
- Very fine MIDI control (PRN and NPRN sent or recorded by Frohmage are 14-bit accurate)
- Low CPU load
Sorry, did someone say FREE? Yes indeed. Ohmforce’s most affordable plugin offers, as you would a expect, a unique palette of sounds, combining lowpass filtering and analogue crunch with a bundle of special features.
You can easily tune the filter to resonate with specific notes in your music, and the built in harmonic multiband feature adds tons of warmth to your sound. For extreme fun, delay effects can be applied across the filters at the turn of a single knob, creating swish phasing or weird gliding echoes.
Finally, why not dial in some distortion. Whether you like your music to scream in pain, or simply crave that phat, analog tone, Frohmage’s final overdrive stage is waiting to be abused. Oh, and did we mention that it’s free?

Free VST Plugin – Blister.
‘Blister is designed to be used only when all other

signal.’
Controls:
Blister is split into two sections: Left and Right.
Left Section:
PRE : Pre amp gain.
POST : Post amp gain.
CRUSH : Bit crushing amount.
DRY : Dry signal output
Right Section:
OSC : This controls the level of Ralph Gonzalez’s
NewWave module.
CUT : Global lowpass filter cutoff.

Free VST Plugin – Ruby Tube – Tube Distortion
Ruby Tube – Tube Distortion – Free VST plugin.
Silverspikes ‘RubyTube’ is a pretty cool sounding tube distortion plugin.
Features a ‘Shape’ control that goes from soft to hard, ‘Drive’ and ‘Output’
You can switch between Limiter or Shaper.
Apparently the aim is to create a vacuum saturation effect.
Download and try it out for yourself here.
They say,
‘RubyTube simulates tube preamps for those that can’t forget. If you are missing that subtle sparkling and compression that you get when using ancient audio equipment, RubyTube might be something for you. And like many other good things in life, RubyTube is free.
RubyTube is a real time, digital tube amp simulator. RubyTube simulates the saturation effect that can be found in audio equipment with vacuum tubes. This effect is usually hardly noticable but it is responsible for the classic tube sound. Sometimes its just a sparkle on the voice and a slight compression of drums and bass that makes the difference between a neutral recording and a warm and full sounding song.
Simulating tube sound with non-tube equipment is difficult but it is possible. RubyTube is not the first such simulator but compared to other tube simulators and distortion units, RubyTube has a very high resolution and a well-balanced spectrum of harmonic distortion.’ – Silverspike
