Music Documentaries That Are A Must See

Lemmy

Brilliant documentary about  the life and career of revered heavy-metal musician Lemmy Kilmister.

Even if you are not a fan of Motorhead this is an insight into the force of Rock n Roll and one of the true icons and purveyors of the art form.

Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me

Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me is a 2012 documentary film about American rock band Big Star – worth searching out this documentary on one of the most underrated bands ever is a must watch for anyone who loves music.

Miss Americana

Netflix described this documentary as a “raw and emotionally revealing look” at Swift “during a transformational period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice”

Leave your bias at the door.

Stiv: No Compromise No Regrets

More of a personal favourite than a recommendation but for those who didn’t know of it’s existence this documentary about the life of Stiv Bators, the front man of the Dead Boys and The Lords of The New Church is a really interesting look into the life of those bands that never quite break the big time but have a lifelong impact on those after them.

Kate Nash: Underestimate The Girl

Musician and actress Kate Nash writes songs, goes on tour, sets up her house, copes with betrayal and owns her voice as a woman in the entertainment industry.

This documentary really surprised me – there is a point where it pivots and you just feel for a musician just trying and then being tripped up ins such a low way.
