Fender introduces the next step in the ongoing evolution of its acclaimed G-DEC (Guitar Digital Entertainment Center) amp series, the G-DEC 3. Available in 30-watt and 15-watt versions, the G-DEC 3 takes an exciting leap forward in technology and content, with easy computer connectivity and with many of its 100 presets and audio performance loops created by the world’s top artists and session aces.

The G-DEC 3′s wealth of backing tracks consist not of generic presets and loops, but rather a stylistically diverse sonic smorgasbord of tracks created specially for Fender by top rock, blues, metal and country artists and session players. These include Eric Johnson, Charlie Benante and Frank Bello (Anthrax), Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Joe Trohman (Fall Out Boy), Brad Paisley, Dweezil Zappa, Jim “Rev. Horton Heat” Heath, Keith Urban, Hatebreed, Nils Lofgren, Gary Hoey, Crooked X, Strung Out and many others.

Consequently, the G-DEC 3 can be easily configured as an “all rock,” “all metal,” “all blues,” “all country,” etc., amp personally tailored to the user’s own musical tastes.

Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl said last week they were “very disappointed” that Cobain’s avatar could be used to play songs by other acts in the game.

“I don’t know that I would have wanted it either,” Jon Bon Jovi told the BBC.

“To hear someone else’s voice coming out of a cartoon version of me? I don’t know. It sounds a little forced.”‘

The rap star’s new album Blueprint 3 is on course to top the Billboard 200 chart, taking him past Elvis’s record of 10 number ones.

Billboard said the 39-year-old had so far shifted 476,000 copies of the LP. ‘

The guitarist sued the band last year saying they used “substantial, original portions” of his 2004 song If I Could Fly on their track Viva La Vida.

Billboard magazine said he had dropped the case and that Coldplay would not be required to admit wrongdoing.’

Is it as some claim killing music, I think it devalues it certainly.

Look at piracy on the whole, we’re so blase about it really.

As I get older I see the value in things much more than I did when I was younger.

Peer-to-peer (p2p) download services are still popular with music-loving kids, it seems. The second annual survey of young people’s music consumption by pressure group UK Music found among 1,808 respondents aged 18 to 24 that three-fifths of them used p2p services, and four-fifths of those did so at least once a week.

This is almost the same as last year’s result, and would seem to indicate that the efforts by the music industry to offer a range of licensed alternatives to Limewire and other p2p services have failed to have any real impact.’

But when I was younger I valued my music because it cost me so much to maintain, these days a record collection can be downloaded in a matter of days.

Not that I want to come across as some kind of grumpy old man.

When CD reared it’s ugly head in the early 80′s I avoided them clinging unhealthily to my beloved vinyl, hunting it down like a mad dog.

Eventually I gave in, It was much easier when mp3 came along but that lost it’s shine quickly.

You see owning the music physically so to speak means a lot.

The arguement though goes that record comapanies are evil corporate monsters and why should I pay them?

Paying for something shows you value it.

If you value music show it.

So the record industry takes it’s cut, so what? It’s called Show Business, it’s exactly that a business.

Blimey the dude is more Rock n Roll than any of these pale indie rock star wannabees.

Drink, drugs, naughty out door sex and now car crashes.

Go on George, you show ‘em how it’s done sunshine…

Not that I’m advocating drinking and driving, you spill yer drink and people die.

‘Singer George Michael was arrested and questioned by police after his Land Rover was in collision with a lorry on the A34 in Berkshire.

The 46-year-old was held on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs but released after five hours.

He was taken to Loddon Valley police station near Reading following the incident in the early hours of Friday.’

‘Les Paul, whose pioneering electric guitars were used by a legion of rock stars, has died at the age of 94.

Mr Paul died from complications of pneumonia in New York, according to Gibson, the firm that sold his guitars.

He is credited with developing one of the first solid-body electric guitars, which went on sale in 1952 and contributed to the birth of rock.’ Read the rest here.

Young, 63, will receive the MusiCares person of the year award award for his “influential artistic accomplishments and philanthropic work”.

He will be honoured at a dinner and concert in Los Angeles on 29 January, two days before the Grammy ceremony.

Young, whose hits include Heart of Gold, will be the 20th person to receive the award.

‘Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has said recording another album would “kill” the band because making records has become a “real drag” to them.

Speaking to US magazine The Believer, the singer said their last release, In Rainbows, worked because the group had a clear vision for the record.

“None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again. Not straight off,” he said.’
